...napkins

10 ways with napkins

Have you ever been to a restaurant, beautiful wedding or black tie do and noticed that every last detail was perfect, including the napkins? While it's possible to create extravagant displays by folding napkins in a variety of exotic ways, this can often be very time consuming.  We believe you can create beautiful and memorable table settings by using two simple folds of napkins and cleverly accessorising them.

Whatever your wedding theme, there are many different ways of displaying a napkin, to really add to the feel of your setting. Start by choosing the colour and fabric you would like the napkins to be and then decorate in a style that works best with your wedding. Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

For a simple and low key way of co-ordinating the napkins with your colour scheme, try folding the napkin in half, rolling it up and tie together with a length of ribbon, using large bows for a more luxurious feel and smaller bows for a simple vintage chic look.
To add a bit more flamboyance to the style described above, tuck a coloured feather into the ribbon and scatter more feathers around each table setting
To incorporate name places with your napkins, try rolling up a linen napkin, wrap a length of ribbon around the napkin, thread on a luggage tag with the guest's name written on it and simply tie the ribbon with a bow
This design can also be used to add an extra floral touch to your table setting with rolled napkins tied with ribbon.  Simply tuck a small flower or a sprig of herb, such as lavender, behind the bow

For wedding themes incorporating butterflies, tie napkins with satin ribbon and attach a glitter butterfly in your choice of colour

To bring some height to a table for a stunning setting, fold a napkin accordion style to create a 'fan'. Once folded, place into a wine glass so the pleats spill over the edge.  Add a sparkler or flower for additional detail
For a glamorous and decadent look, fold a white napkin into a pocket style and tuck a coloured feather or place card into the centre of the pocket.  To add a bit more indulgence, scatter extra feathers around each table setting
For a seasonal look, fold a white napkin into a pocket style and accessorise with a seasonal flower, a sprig of your favourite aromatic herb or a small wedding favour as a suprise
For an elegant layered effect, fold the napkin into a pocket style, tuck a menu or place card into the pocket and place a favour box on the bottom half of the napkin pocket
To bring out the ‘big kid' in guests and keep the children amused, tie nostalgic sweets such as candy sticks or love hearts onto your napkins for a fun, retro look

You can also extend your colour scheme to your napkins - you don't have to stick to classic white or ivory. Wow guests with something completely different colours such as black or red. Remember, this is your special occasion and therefore, you can choose what you like!
