...favour boxes

10 ways with favour boxes

Traditionally known as bonbonnieres and consisting of five sugared almonds in a delicate organza bag, wedding favours now come in a variety of styles, shapes and sizes!  The favour box is fast becoming a classical way of showing guests your appreciation of their presence at your special day.

With so many colours to choose from, we have selected a few ideas on how you can dress and finish your favour boxes to ensure they look their best on the day:

The most classical way of finishing your favour boxes is to select a box and ribbon in the same colour and finish with a simple bow.  This understated look is a very easy way to add a final finishing touch to your table setting

Use two lengths of ribbon - instead of one - to tie round your favour boxes for a real luxe feel.  This works particularly well with the satin ribbon

A step on from this could be to use two ribbon lengths in contrasting colours to tie your favour box
Favour boxes tied with ribbon don't necessarily have to be finished with a bow, a simple strip of ribbon can look extremely chic.  Try contrasting different types of ribbon for an extra special touch
If you have a glamorous or decadent theme, add a little sparkle to your favour boxes by accessorising with a crystal or diamante stem
Stick old, mismatching buttons in pretty colours to the lid of your favour box to give a beautiful vintage feel to the finished result
Accessoring your favour boxes to reflect the theme of your wedding really ensures that it's carried through to every last detail. Continue the theme in your table centrepieces or candles
If you have a colour scheme incorporating two main colours, mix and match your favour box lids and bases to fit in with this.  Remember bows don't always have to be tied in the centre and can look stunning if placed off-centre in the corner of the box
To incorporate your favour box with place setting, accessorise with a 'luggage tag' style place card, with your guest's name written on it

Finally, don't automatically think 'box'.  Favour boxes are available in a variety of shapes, such as heart-shaped, pillow-shaped or even top-hat shaped, to suit your taste and style
