Name: Stefanie Hopkins The proposal: Carl proposed to me in April 2006 during a romantic meal overlooking the harbour of Monte Carlo. Wedding date: 7th July 2007 Venue: St Mary's Church Luddenden & Harewood House, Leeds The Wedding: We had a religious ceremony in the village I grew up in, Luddenden, followed by a reception in the grounds of stately home, Harewood House, on the outskirts of Leeds. Following three weeks of downpours we were lucky to have a rain-free 24 hours - the sun started shining the moment I arrived at Church! Did you have a colour theme? Our colour theme was aubergine and silver, which was used throughout from the invites, flowers, menu cards, seating plan, the table names (named after holidays we had been on) to the order of services - hand-made by Carl. Even our cars matched with myself and Carl travelling in a burgundy 1930's Rolls Royce while my four bridesmaids travelled in silver 1954 Bentley. Tell us about your table decorations: The table decoration was where our colour scheme really came into its own. We kept the look simple and classy with a modern twist. Crisp white tablecloths were offset by purple wine glasses and contemporary silver cutlery. Each table was sprinkled with purple heart-shaped glitter confetti while heart-shaped sparklers were placed in each guest's wine glass. Miniature wedding cake-shaped bubbles were tied with purple satin ribbon and dotted around the table. A purple feather was placed on each guest's napkin which was folded in a perfect square. Did you have wedding favours? Yes, each guests received a silver astuccio favour box tied with silver organza ribbon containing 5 purple chocolate hearts. The boxes were decorated alternatively with purple crystal sprays and silver glitter butterflies. Our 5-tier wedding cake continued the colour scheme with each slice presented in individually wrapped silver boxes with purple crystal sprays. We had nearly 100 guests for the day and nearly all of them took the table decorations home with them! So many of our guests complimented us on the decorations and were impressed how the colour scheme ran throughout the entire day. Top tip My tip for future brides - try and put one of each of your decorations aside to keep as a memento of the day - with the efficient staff at the venue and my enthusiastic guests I struggled to get some for myself!
