I’m getting married in quite a plain hall – how should I decorate it without spending too much?

Don’t get too exasperated by having a plain venue, think of it as more of a blank canvas!  There is a lot you can do on a budget to have your hall looking stunning and party ready in no time. Try these fabulous wedding venue decorations ideas out…

You can buy voiles and organza fabrics by the metre relatively cheaply – used en masse attached from a central point in the ceiling and then twisted/draped out to the edges of the room it looks amazing.  Or, simply hung down the walls in long panels is also beautifully effective, for some extra ambiance try hanging fairy lights behind them to make a starllit curtain.

Balloons are also a brilliant way of decorating a room. Bunches of helium filled balloons not only look great but also fill a lot of space making your room feel more decorated!  Bunting, everybody’s favourite choice at the moment and for good reason – it looks great and if you’re on a budget can be either homemade or bought at reasonable prices.

Balloons, balloons, balloons! A wonderful space filler...

In a plain room, using coloured table runners on your tables is a really easy way to make an instant impact right across the room.  Plants and flowers in pretty pots are also a good idea.  Grow your own plants up from smaller (less expensive) sized plants in terracotta pots, which are very inexpensive and look great.  The pots can also be painted very easily to tie in with any colour scheme you may have.  Just remember to allow yourself sufficient ‘growing’ time!

You may also be surprised at furniture/props/larger decorations available to hire although this can get costly.  Use websites as inspiration for pieces you would like and then scour car boot and vintage sales – you’ll be amazed at what you might find!
