Top 10 Places in the World to Pop the Question to your Man...

Planning to pop the question to your man this year? We’ve searched the web (and thought about where we’d really love to be when we’re asked the big question) and come up with our top places to propose – paradise…

The Eiffel Tower, Paris. Photo: Destination360

Eiffel Tower, Paris, France

Probably the most famous landmark in the world, the Eiffel Tower overlooks probably the most romantic city in the world: Paris. OK, so it may not be completely original (it’s probably been the proposal spot for many a couple and lots of films) but with its cosy cafés on every corner, a rich history in art and architecture, and the language of love being the native tongue, this beautiful city is the perfect place to pop the question. Why not make like Tom Cruise and get down on bended knee at the top of the Eiffel Tower? If Katie Price thinks it’s great…

The Canals of Venice, Italy

We heart Venice. The twisty, inding streets where you always end up lost, the impossibly romantic waterways and couples snuggled against each other in gondola’s. If you’re an old-fashioned romantic then we can’t see anywhere better to propose that historically-rich Venice. Surrounded by beautiful old-school villages and bustling markets and squares, it would be hard to find a more fitting place to blurt out the Big One.

The Grand Canyon, Arizona, America

Looking for the wow factor? Whisk your hubby to be to the most stupendous of gorges. This colourful gorge, created over six million years by the Colorado River, is 277 miles long and over a mile deep. Its sheer vastness creates a humbling experience – and a moving spot to ask your man to spend the rest of his life with you. Although there’s not a doubt in our mind that he’ll say yes – just make sure he isn’t standing too close to the edge when you pop the question, the shock may be a little too much!

The Trevi Fountain, Italy. Photo: Destination360

The Trevi Fountain, Rome, Italy

The Fontana di Trevi is the most famous – and, arguably, the most beautiful – fountain in all of Rome. Rome offers a beautiful romantic getaway – and enough culture and nightlife that your soon-to-be-fiancee won’t even become suspicious when you say you’d love to go there.  Enjoy a day of sightseeing ( photo opportunities are endless), then wind up at the truly romantic fountain spot, a prime place to propose to your man.

Niagra Falls. Photo: Travelblat.com

Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada

There is something about Niagara Falls that is just magical. What is it about waterfalls that makes us go all mushy? Whether it’s their majestic beauty, awe-inspiring size (the Niagara has six million cubic feet of water falling over its crest line every minute) or their exotic aura, waterfalls are, most definitely, romantic locations. Perfect, then, for popping that all-important, life-changing question – what are you waiting for?!

Sydney Harbour Bridge, Aus. Photo: Sydneyrocks.org

Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney, Australia

With its vast landscape, there’s a million places you might like to propose in Oz. However, this guide is about making it accessible – and there would be nothing less romantic than falling out when you can’t find the very spot you’re planning on proposing at. There’s no chance of that if you choose to pop the question at Sydney Harbour bridge. It’s probably their most famous – and awe-inspring – landmark. Sun, sand and surf – he’s bound to say ‘defo, mate!’

The London Eye. Photo: GoLondon.com

The London Eye, London, England

You don’t need to travel the world to find a destination worthgetting on one knee (or not) for!  Try the London Eye – a spin  in the biggest observation wheel in the world. While your man’s marvelling at the awesome views of London (including Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament) surprise him with a leap-year proposal. Heighten the romantic vibe by booking a Champagne Capsule, where you can sip on Laurent-Perrier in your own private ride – and celebrate when he says ‘Yes!’

Maya Beach, Thailand. Photo: camping-gear-outlet.com

Maya Beach, Phi Phi Leh, Thailand

If nothing short of paradise will do for your romantic proposal, then you’d better book a ticket to Thailand. where one of the world’s most powdery-white, beautiful beaches luxuriously lies, with turquoise waters lapping at its shore. Its kudos and stunning setting provide the perfect backdrop for a pop-the-question moment – if he doesn’t say yes here, then it’s probably time to start looking elsewhere (just make sure you still enjoy the rest of your stay!)

Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany. Photo: Neutschwanstein.org

Neuschwanstein Castle, Bavaria, Germany

One of the most spectacular sights in Germany, Neuschwanstein Castle sits atop an impressive mountain range, and is surrounded by beautiful lakes and forests. If you’d like to avoid the heat and sweat you might find in some of our other suggestions, then Neuschwanstein Castle is for you. The big tradition here is beer (and lots of it!) it’s a unique and grandiose castle, and would provide a truly original proposal location. And, you’ll earn extra brownie points for taking your man to a place where beer is not just a beverage – it’s a way of life.

The Palace of Monoco

Palace of Monaco, Monaco, France

Monaco is the playground of the rich, famous and fabulously good-looking – if you know your bloke loves to be the centre of attention and fancies himself a life of glamour and fast cars, then you’ll be in the right place.  Overlooking the world-famous harbour, home to multi-million pound, in-your-dreams yachts sitting on crystal-clear turquoise waters, fringed with palm trees, the palace sits majestically on a pretty hill top. Sound perfect? It is. At night, Prince Albert II of Monaco’s home lights up to create a magical atmosphere – very proposal-appropriate. The only problem we can foresee is that you might feel a little bit like the paupers in this town – but forget it and enjoy!
