Here at The Last Detail we’re seeing an increase in popularity for vintage style weddings and parties. And who could blame you all, what a gorgeously romantic and pretty choice!

We thought we’d provide you all with a little bit of inspiration for your event, whether it be a wedding breakfast, birthday party, anniversary celebration, or just an afternoon tea party with the girls.

Also, take a look here at our real life wedding post for a gorgeous vintage style wedding that Helen, our Trading Manager went to!

We’ve recently seen some absolutely amazing vintage and festival style events in the incredible Indian style marquee tents by Shades of India. These tents are derived from the rich and diverse history of the Mughal dynasty, rulers of India for many hundreds of years. As such, they have a character and ambience that is unmatched by modern tents and Shades of India have kindly provided us with some fantastic pictures for your inspirational needs!

The above images are from a lovely vintage style wedding, which is beautifully delicate and pretty. Think traditional country weddings; wildflowers placed in jam jars, strings of pastel gingham bunting, delicious cakes on vintage cake stands, and large long tables for all your guests to eat, drink and be merry together. The overall feel is so rustic and focused on getting family and friends together to share a special and happy day. We especially love the little finishing touches such as the ‘LOVE’ vintage playing cards on the cake table and the big glass sweet jars full of marshmallows and jellybeans. Take a look at our own vintage table decorations and finishing touches here and our pretty vintage party bunting here.

The images below show an absolutely beautiful vintage style event with a modern festival twist, which goes to show that choosing vintage styling doesn’t mean that you have to go for pale and pastel colours, and that using contrasting colours as accents looks absolutely amazing. To really work this style, you should go for no more than two colours; otherwise the whole effect can look too mismatched and confused. The bunting inbetween the lengths of coloured fabric ties together the vintage look; and the fairy lights give the tent a gorgeous romantic ambiance once the sun goes down.

Really effective bunting and fabric swathes

For a simpler, but just as effective idea, this party held in an old barn building looks fabulous. Instead of chairs, there were bright cushions around a long low table, which gives a fantastically relaxed and intimate atmosphere with guests. The barn was decorated with lengths of white fabric and fairy lights, and surrounded by bales of hay for a really rural feel. Effective lighting for after dusk makes this look really special. Although basic at a first glance, this styling has a really luxurious feel thanks to its English vintage meets Moroccan dining finishing touches.

Founder of The Last Detail. Kaley, admits that a perfect day away from the business she built from scratch is one spent not wearing a scrap of make up and stomping around the countryside with her two children, husband Mark and the family dogs. Once sent to the headmaster in school for instigating a game of Kiss Catch in the playground, Kaley’s childhood nickname was ‘Miss Piggy’, coined from her bossy nature! She detests rudeness, and rubbish customer service and loves classical riding, opera and Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean. When asking her little boy and girl what they thought she should write on her ‘about me’ section the answers were ‘Mummy is beautiful and kind’ and ‘tell them you’re cuddly’ (hopefully meaning in terms of giving them not looking cuddly!)
